About the church family

We are a varied and friendly congregation seeking to know more of Christ and walk with Him in our village and in the world.
We meet regularly for worship, usually on Sundays at 9.30am and 6pm, and welcome everyone who would like to join us.  We also hold an evening Zoom Compline Service at 6pm every other Sunday.  If you would like to join in this service, please email Revd Janet by clicking here and she will send you an invitation.  We are also open for private prayer during the day.

For latest news see our Facebook feed on the right.

Below is our church diary; all events are held in church unless shown otherwise.

Regulations around Public Worship

Revised Covid Measures

Following the latest guidance on the Covid measures, we have adapted the approach taken in the church.  The measures, which will be reviewed as and when required, are:
  • Please don’t enter the church building if you Covid-19 or symptoms of Covid-19.
  • Please sanitise your hands when you enter the building.
  • Rules regarding face coverings have changed and there is no longer an obligation to wear one in church. However, you are very welcome to do so, should you wish.
  • Seating is generally not regulated apart from in the North Aisle where a 'lower-risk' zone with additional measures has been created: please see the signs in place for specific guidance.
  • Communion is undertaken by intinction of the bread in the wine by the president.

                    Crisis in Ukraine

If you would like information on the crisis and/or would like to explore how we might help, please see the information provided on the web pages of the Church of England and the Diocese of Bristol, which are available via the 'Useful Links' button on the menu on the left-hand side of this page.  The link will take you to the page where the information can be found under the heading of 'Charity and Mission Work'.

In addition, you can help through Christian Aid, which is a member of the UK Disaster Emergency Committee (UK DEC).  UK DEC is operating a Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, and Christian Aid is collecting on its behalf.  The UK government has pledged to match pound for pound up to £20 million donated by the public to this appeal.

You can find out more about Christian Aid's response and make a donation to the appeal here

Christian Aid - Turning Hunger into Hope

for Christian Aid Week 2022

This month, we’re walking 300,000 steps to raise money for Christian Aid Week 2022. As part of this, we’re going to host two guided walks and want to invite everybody (of all faiths or none) to join us. These walks will take place on Tuesday 17th May and Saturday 21st May.

Have you ever wanted to explore the countryside paths but are worried about getting lost? Do you want to make new friends in the village? Or explore new parts of Wiltshire or Gloucestershire? If the answer is yes, join us for one of these walks…

On 17th, we’ll be doing the Box Heritage Trail (4.5 miles with some uphill bits). We’ll start from Selwyn Hall in Box at 10am, stopping at the Quarryman’s Arms for lunch. Dogs are welcome on this walk.

As for the Saturday walk, this is where we need your help. We’ve had so many wonderful suggestions that we can’t decide which route we should follow. Help us decide by voting via this link and we’ll announce the details on Tuesday 10th May. Don’t worry – whichever route we take, we’ll stop halfway through for lunch

Literary Walk: Painswick via Slad Valley (think Cider with Rosie country) – 5 miles
Stoneage Walk: Avebury to West Kennet Long Barrow and return via Woodhenge, the Ridgeway and up the Avenue – 6 miles
Railway Walk: Calne via Bowood to Derry Hill and then back to Calne via disused railway – 8 miles
Canal Walk: Chippenham to Lacock and back, along the Wilts & Berks canal – 5.5 miles
Purton along the Severn to Sharpness viewing the beached ships. Pubs en route 5.5 miles
