August Diary

August is holiday time for a lot of people, and a fairly quiet time on the Church calendar, apart from the Feast of the Transfiguration on 6 August and the feastday of St Mary the Virgin - usually on 15 August, but on the 16th this year. Mary the mother of Jesus is of course a major figure within Christianity and for European and Latin American countries her feastday is a major festival, often coinciding with factory shutdowns and general breaks from work in the hottest part of the year.

So, enjoy your break whether you're in Colerne, elsewhere in the UK or further afield. If you are around on 22 August, don't forget that the Bishop is visiting the benefice, which will be an opportunity to hear from him as to the way forward for our parishes.
